AREAS OF CONSIDERATION:
FIRST : Permanently employed Army Technicians Statewide.
SECOND : Qualified members of the Tennessee Army National Guard.

INTRODUCTION: This position is located in Louisville, TN, AASF#2. This position performs maintenance, removal, installation, inspection, troubleshooting and testing of aircraft rotor and propeller systems. Work involves the troubleshooting, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, modifying, testing, and servicing aircraft propeller assemblies and their components and straightening of propeller blades. The work requires an overall knowledge of hydraulic, electric, and mechanical controls and drive mechanisms, valves, synchrophasers, and other components of the complete propeller assembly.

DUTIES& RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO :Tests and troubleshoots aircraft rotor and/or propeller systems using special tools and test equipment. Diagnoses any malfunctions of rotor/propeller systems and makes necessary repairs. This includes disassembly, repair, and reassembling rotor/propeller system components, and internal hydraulic and electrical components using common to special tools, and equipment. Repairs and refinishes blades/propellers using a variety of metal working tools and precision measuring instruments. Performs troubleshooting of the powertrain systems using special tools and test equipment, diagnoses any system malfunctions and makes necessary repairs. This includes disassembly, repair, and reassembling powertrain components, such as drive shafts, gear boxes, mast assemblies. Subjects rotor, propeller, and powertrain parts to a variety of nondestructive testing to identify imperfections not otherwise detected. Operates magnetic, dye, or electronic equipment to identify or detect stress, cracks, or potential failures. Refers findings to inspector for determination of serviceability. Utilizing power hoists, special slings and balancing equipment, aligns and balances assembled propellers/rotor blades by making appropriate linkage adjustments and by making both chordwise and spanwise weight adjustments to bring blades into true balance. After assembly or installation of the blade systems on the aircraft, makes final adjustments to balance, track, eliminate vibrations and ensure proper revolutions per minute (RPM) by checking blade track utilizing special tracking equipment and making weight, trim tab, and control linkage adjustments. Performs operational checks of installed aircraft blades and associated sub-systems both inflight and during aircraft maintenance ground runs. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Experience or training that has provided the ability to perform assembly and disassembly operations and make prescribed modifications to aircraft propeller assemblies and their components in accordance with technical specifications, procedures and requirements. Experience using hand and power tools common to the trade.
REQUIRED SPECIALIZED
Experience: Experience or training performing standard, routine assembly and disassembly operations and making prescribed modifications to aircraft propellers, assemblies, and accessories. Experience or training performing maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft propellers, components, for rotary wing aircraft. Experience determining maintenance needed from work orders, inspection reports, historical record, and by own diagnosis.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES : Resume must reflect applicable experience.
Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose problems, conduct operational inflight and ground checks, repair, test, and adjust helicopter rotor systems.
Knowledge of the installation, operation and repair of the system to be able to analyze, rework, adapt, or adjust to the extent necessary to make needed corrections.
Skill required to troubleshoot, diagnose, and make significant repairs matches the WG-10 level of the standard.
Ability to perform assembly and disassembly operations and make prescribed modifications to aircraft propeller assemblies and their components in accordance with technical specifications, procedures and requirements.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS - Military skill set is determined by AFSC/MOS requirements. Upon selection, individuals must be assigned to a compatible military AFSC/MOS in accordance with statutes and National Guard Bureau regulations and must obtain/maintain all requirements of the AFSC/MOS. Specific requirements are found in: references listed below, NGB Compatibility tables and your local Personnel section.
For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS - For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
