Set it on a flat surface, mount it on a tripod, or use it on a pole. The Activeon Motorized Panoramic Head is perfect for Cellular Phones, Action Cameras, Go Pros, and all pocket cameras. A small dSLR with a small lens would work, but too much weight would be tough on the motor. We've successfully used the Canon D series with a 50mm 1.8, and 28mm, but I'd seriously try to keep the weight under a pound. This is another of those things we bought multiples of (we're keeping two for ourselves, gave six other's away to the kids as gifts). These are PERFECT for hands free PANOs with CELL PHONES (using the 1/4 screw - you add the adapter), the Sony ACTION CAMS, GO PRO, or any of the small POINT & SHOOTS. We've used these little pan heads with Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS60, Canon Powershot, Nikon Coolpix, and others. These can do 360 degree panos, time lapse, and a other options. The coolest thing is that it's SMALL and weighs OUNCES! So it's perfect for backpacking, hiking, and traveling. Add a 4k camera to the 360 degree pano, and make some amazing captures (especially if you can get a little height). Great for landscapes and BIG CROWDS. Uses REGULAR BATTERIES (which is another reason I liked this)! Great for cruises, and a travel tripod.
